National Volunteers’ Week: Reflecting on volunteers past and present
The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia would like to mark the occasion of National Volunteers’ Week (May 13-19) by extending a warm thank you to our volunteers.
Our volunteers are everyday people, from all walks of life and backgrounds and together their selfless actions enabled our charity to assist approximately 1.8 million people last year.
I sincerely thank each and every one of the 40,000 plus people who volunteer their time with the St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia. They are following in the simple footsteps of a fellow volunteer, our founder, the Blessed Frederic Ozanam.
Frederic was a young University student when he founded the Society in France in 1833. This year the Society marked the bicentenary of his birth on April 23, 1813.
